It’s October and the leaves are turning color, farmers are bringing in the hay and the corn, and pumpkins are plumping in the fields. Summer’s Bounty will be brought in by the Harvest Moon and this year’s farming labors will be enjoyed by all.
People the world over gather to celebrate Harvest Time. Different cultures and countries may have their own traditions, but celebrating abundance is a universal joy!
We invite you to join SITU Members & Friends as we gather together to celebrate Harvest Time, dressing in Autumnal finery representing a variety of Folkwear such as Bunad, Dirndl, Sarafan & Poneva, Lederhosen, etc. You say you don’t have something suitable?? Don’t let the costuming put you off. A simple gathered skirt or basic trousers, blouse or shirt, and vest can serve as Folkwear. The intention is to come together wearing clothing “evocative” of Folkwear, to have a good time together and share a meal.
