Two young gentlemen use the same pseudonym (“Ernest”) on the sly in their romantic activities. All is well until they both fall in love with women using that name, which leads to a comedy of mistaken identities.

SITU invites you to attend a performance of  “The Importance of Being Earnest”  at Taproot Theatre, followed by an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience.

Seattle’s own historical costuming club, Somewhere in Time, Unlimited (SITU) has secured a limited number of discounted tickets for Oscar Wilde’s play.  SITU Members, Guests, and Friends will benefit.  The Importance of Being Earnest” is being presented by the acclaimed Taproot Theater in North Seattle, Sept. 20, 2025 which will begin at 2pm.

After enjoying Oscar Wilde’s witty comedy, we’ll have the unique opportunity to tour the theatre’s costume shop with their Costume Manager as our guide.

This event offers a perfect blend of theatrical entertainment and educational insight into professional costume design and construction. The tour will give us a first-hand look at how costumes are created, maintained, and managed in a working theatre environment, providing valuable perspective for our own costuming work.

The afternoon promises to be entertaining and enriching, combining our love of theatre with our passion for costume arts.

The costume era is late Victorian or Edwardian. Be aware the theatre is small, so please no bustle or large hats. Costumes are appreciated but not required.
